As for the item perhaps you can consider a berry we do not have yet instead?
Imagine that Berry that boosts your defenses after taking damage. Could make this thing unstoppable. | |

| No, you use the rock smash slot to alternate between flash and Rock smash since they're TM's. Haven't you guys ever used this as an HM slave before? | |
